Razor Blades Found On Car Door Handle In Temecula Prompts Investigation

Officers are investigating multiple reports of razor blades being found on cars in Temecula, including blades being affixed to a vehicle's handle.Get more news about Door Handle, you can vist our website!

The first incident occurred on January 9 at 11 a.m., when a deputy responded to the 41000 block of Carleton Way regarding razor blades affixed to a car door handle, the Temecula Sheriff's Station said in a press release.

"I just lightly felt around, and I felt something," Kristen Dalton, the victim, said. "As I got closer, I was like, 'Oh my god! Those are razor blades.'"

Investigators determined that the razor blades were placed in a manner likely to cause injury, with two blades pointed up and two pointed down. No one was injured during the incident.

"So no matter if you grabbed the handle underneath or on top, you were going to get cut by the blades," Dalton said.

A day later on January 10 at 9:12 a.m., a deputy responded to the 31000 block of Daniel Way to a report of a resident locating a single razor blade found on the front of their vehicle.

It was not immediately determined why the razor was left on a vehicle but the department did not believe it was related to the prior incident.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call the Southwest Sheriff's Station at (951) 696-3000. The Sheriff's Department is asking the public to use caution when opening their vehicle doors and immediately report any incidents to the Sheriff's Dispatch.

Texas Woman Claims She Was Drugged

A Houston woman claimed in a widely publicized video that she was drugged after touching a napkin that was lodged in the handle of her vehicle, and was hospitalized shortly after coming into contact with it.Get more news about Door Handle, you can vist our website!

Erin Mims, who owns a salon according to her Facebook profile, shared a video to the social media platform on Aug. 7, 2022, providing a first-person account of her self-described experience.

Mims claimed that her birthday turned into one of “the scariest moments of my life” when, after dining at a Prospect Park restaurant on the north side of the city, she found a napkin wadded up and stuffed into the door handle of her car. (The video above shows a recreation of the event.) Mims said that she picked the napkin up with her fingernails and tossed it out. While she didn’t touch the napkin directly with her fingertips, she said that she did touch the door handle.

After about two minutes, Mims said her fingertips started tingling. After five minutes, she said that her entire arm started to feel numb, and she also felt lightheaded and couldn’t breathe.

“It was a whole bunch of different feelings at one time,” she said in the video. Her husband reportedly took her to the emergency room, where she was told that her vitals “were not stable” and she was given fluids and a “whole bunch of tests,” including a CAT scan.

“The doctors said I had acute poisoning from an unknown substance. I didn’t have enough of it in my system to determine what it was, but just that little amount had me messed up,” she said in the video. “So, just imagine if I would have grabbed it with my full hand.”The video has been shared widely on social media and has been covered by a number of national and international news publications, such as The Independent and Business Insider, as well as several Houston-area outlets. One such news story alleged that Mims filed a report alleging assault with the Houston Police Department (HPD), prompting our newsroom to contact the agency. A public information officer confirmed that Mims had filed a police report — not assault charges — and the case was part of an ongoing investigation.

HPD told Snopes that aside from the police report, there is no evidence to corroborate Mims’ story — and that won’t happen until the department receives a copy of her medical records to determine what, if any, chemicals were in her system. HPD also said that this is the first such incident reported in its jurisdiction.

“At this point, we don’t know,” a spokesperson for the agency told Snopes on the phone.

In addition to the HPD, we also contacted the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency to determine if there was a cause for broader public concern. A spokesperson for the agency referred our team to guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

When one considers the dangers of driving a car, getting injured or killed in an accident is the most common concern. After grabbing a bite to eat at a restaurant or doing some shopping, it's not uncommon to find an advertisement flyer on the windshield of your car. However, if you see an unusual object, such as a napkin, there's cause for concern. If you touch it, you could put yourself in danger. Erin Mims, a woman from Houston, Texas, found this out the hard way - and now she's warning others to beware of the poison napkin on a door handle.

Earlier in August, Mims, an owner of a salon, celebrated her birthday with her husband at a Houston restaurant. After returning to their car following the birthday dinner, she found a napkin on the door handle.

Mims said that she's typically careful regarding potential germs, but the margarita she had at the restaurant made her less cautious. She also thought that the napkin was probably a prank played by her husband, as reported by Fox 26 Houston.
Mims then went back to the restaurant. She washed her hands and returned to the car. Shortly after, she felt a tingling sensation in her fingers. "Maybe five minutes, my whole arm started tingling and feeling numb. I couldn't breathe," said Mims. "I started getting hot flashes, my chest was hurting, my heart was beating really fast."

Then, Mim's husband drove her to the hospital. To diagnose her health ailments, doctors did a urine sample, blood tests, and a CAT scan. Mims explained, "They said my vitals were all over the place. The doctor came in, and told me it wasn't enough in my system to determine what it was, but said it was acute poisoning from an unknown substance."

Also, her doctor believed that the poisoning was a failed kidnapping attempt. The details of Mim's toxicology are unknown. However, Mark Winter, a local Houston poison control expert, said, "In her video, her symptoms match hundreds of different poisons. It is possible. I've learned over my 40 years, that anything is possible when it comes to the human body."
