What you need to know about masks

Masks are coverings that cover the wearer's nose and mouth. There are different types of masks:To get more news about quality medical surgical mask factory outlet, you can visit tnkme.com official website.

It is important that the mask is worn properly over the nose and mouth and removed properly to protect yourself against COVID-19. Watch this video to find out more.Face masks such as cloth or fabric masks act as a simple barrier and work as "source control"[1].

"Source control" refers to preventing the wearer's respiratory droplets from travelling into the air and onto other people when the person wearing the mask coughs, sneezes, talks etc.

These are not suitable for use during medical and surgical procedures in healthcare facilities, where exposure and risk of transmission of infection is higher. These masks may be used by the general public and in community settings. Please refer to MOH's guidance and FAQs on the use of masks.

Face masks are not regulated as medical devices under the Health Sciences Authority (HSA). Therefore, the quality and effectiveness of face masks are not regulated by HSA.For greater effectiveness, choose face masks that have good filtration capability. Examples of such masks include those distributed by the People's Association and Temasek Foundation.

Do not choose masks with exhalation valves, as these allow the escape of exhaled droplets from the wearer and exposes others to the risk of infection.

Face masks with good filtering efficiency help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others by acting as a "source control". Wearing a mask in public places limits exposure to respiratory droplets and large particles and reduces the risk of community spread of infection[2]. This is especially relevant for asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic infected wearers who feel well and may be unaware that they are infectious[3].

These masks are particularly useful in public settings (e.g. when using public transport) when strict adherence to safe distancing may be challenging.Surgical masks are medical masks that offer both "source control" and protection for the wearer against exposure to splashes and sprays of infectious material from others. Therefore, in situations where an individual is in contact with an infected or a potentially infected individual (e.g. visiting a clinic for consultation, patient care givers) a surgical mask is recommended.

Surgical masks offer high filtration efficiency, adequate breathability and reasonable fluid penetration resistance. Their performance characteristics are tested according to a set of standardised test methods based on international standards such as ASTM F2100, EN 14683, Singapore Standard SS 669 series[4] or equivalent to verify that they meet prescribed requirements for bacterial filtration efficiency (at least 95%), breathability, splash resistance etc.

These masks, which are used during medical and surgical procedures in healthcare settings, are regulated as medical devices under HSA.

A comprehensive review of various categories of face masks resistant to Covid-19

The science about the usage of face masks by the common public to avert COVID-19 transmission is proceeding swiftly. A primary route of transmission of COVID-19 is probably through small respiratory droplets, and it is transmissible from asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic individuals. According to the World Health Organization, wearing a mask in public can help reduce the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Different categories and types of masks and their usage are reviewed in this work. In a nutshell, this review work elucidates the aspects of utilizing the various face masks along with all possibilities to fight against the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19.To get more news about famous FFP2 mask stock, you can visit tnkme.com official website.

World Health Organization (WHO), announced on January 30, 2020, a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) in response to the emersion of a novel coronavirus in Wuhan, China. Later, on March 11, 2020, WHO announced COVID-19 to be a pandemic, it is the 2nd pandemic of the 21st century after the pandemic of 2009 caused by influenza A H1N1.1 , 2

In the declaration by WHO on February 11, 2020, the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is caused by the virus named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which is genetically related to the coronavirus responsible for the SARS outbreak of 2003.3

As of August 29, 2020, more than 24.7 million cases have been reported across 188 countries and territories, causing more than 837,000 deaths with a recovering of 16.2 million people. In this case, proactive infection monitoring criteria have been executed in hospital set-ups.4 , 5

To control the further outbreak of pandemic disease COVID-19 among people, WHO provided some guidelines and instructions to the general public to follow such as the continuous practice of hand hygiene, maintaining social distancing, wearing a mask in public, avoiding social gatherings and practising self-isolation and home quarantine. In addition, with the guidelines of WHO, the authorities also implemented some rules such as quarantine and testing of all travellers, closing and regulating the city and country borders, along with massive testing for case detection by RT-PCR (reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction) technique. Later, stay at home order, lockdowns, home isolation, cancellation of mass gatherings and prohibiting traveling were acquired to several degrees and at various time points in several countries to alleviate the threat of community transmission. It is unclear when the outbreak will end, and there are no known vaccines or antiviral therapies that are 100% effective against the coronavirus.3 , 5 Though there has been working on immunization and numerous vaccines have been created so far, none of them can guarantee 100 % efficacy against SARS-CoV-2.6, 7, 8

To handle the ongoing COVID -19 pandemic situation, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had recommended the public to put on face masks. Many Asian countries, which have had greater experience with new coronavirus infections, use public masks significantly more frequently. Face Masks have been recommended as a primary potent tool to control the COVID-19 outbreak in China.9 However, the World Health Organization (WHO) advises that face masks should only be worn by individuals caring for patients with suspected COVID-19 or those who are actively sneezing or coughing.10

Many governments around the world have introduced policies that recommend the wearing of masks to slow down the expanse of COVID-19. Mandatory use and enforcement vary globally. While several countries have passed legislation requiring the use of masks, others, like China, India, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, have issued more precise guidelines.11

HeiQ launches high-tech mask featuring ground-breaking copper technology

Global leader in textile and materials innovation, HeiQ, launches HeiQ MetalliQ, a futuristic-looking, high-tech surgical mask that destroys all viruses and bacteria tested, up to 100% efficacy.HeiQ MetalliQ doesn't only look metallic. The mask with a patented design actually contains an ultra-thin pure copper coating applied via a high-tech vapor deposition process, called HeiQ MetalliX, which converts a minute amount of copper into vapour, allowing it to be deposited evenly to surround each fibre. HeiQ MetalliX is a patent-pending technology, created by HeiQ's innovation partner, Australian materials technology company, Xefco. Studies conducted by the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity in Melbourne, Australia (Doherty Institute) showed that fabrics treated by the HeiQ MetalliX technology significantly deactivated the infectious SARS-CoV-2 virus (the virus that causes COVID-19) in as little as 5 minutes. To get more news about quality nonmedical mask factory, you can visit tnkme.com official website.

The testing protocol simulated the real-life interaction of aerosol droplets contaminating textile products such as face masks. Each sample was exposed to a high loading of SARS-CoV-2 followed by 5, 15 and 30 minutes incubation at room temperature before the amount of remaining infectious SARS-CoV-2 viruses was measured. The fabric samples treated with HeiQ MetalliX indicated a virus reduction of over 97.79% in five minutes, 99.95% in 15 minutes and over 99.99% in 30 minutes, relative to the inoculum control.

"Our team of experts continue their vital work to minimise the impact of the novel coronavirus." Dr Julie McAuley, Senior Research Officer at the Doherty Institute, stated, "testing the ability of different surface treatments to reduce infectivity of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is one way that our research can help provide insights towards helping to stop the spread of COVID-19", Dr McAuley added.

Copper is a naturally occurring element, present in the earth's crust, soil, oceans, lakes and rivers. It is also a trace element that occurs naturally in all humans, plants and animals. The antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties of copper have been known for centuries and have been demonstrated by many laboratory studies. HeiQ MetalliX treated materials release copper ions which deactivate viruses and bacteria. Treated materials have also been tested to kill 100% of Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae and deactivate 99.95% of H1N1 virus and 99.9% of Human Coronavirus 229E.

Made in EU, HeiQ MetalliQ is manufactured in HeiQ Medica in Spain where HeiQ also conducts R&D activities for medical devices. Throughout the development of the HeiQ MetalliX technology, Xefco worked closely with long-standing research partner the Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) at Deakin University, as part of the world-class ARC Research Hub for Future Fibres, of which HeiQ is also a member.

"You can pretty much 'heiq' everything to add additional functions to an every-day product. This time we up our game once again in antiviral protection, with an upgraded and premium appearance. Spring is calling. As we emerge from lock-down we want to be extra protected and protect the others. HeiQ MetalliQ is designed exactly to provide that extra level of confidence. Further, it gives an edgy look, making it an improved alternative to surgical masks in many ways," says Carlo Centonze, co-founder and CEO of HeiQ Group.
