Red Robin Gourmet Burgers approached AMICO with the idea of using our
APEX03 architectural mesh style as an exterior screen wall for their new
store design. Based on AMICO’s previous experience supplying
Architectural Metal Screen Systems for the same application, AMICO was
able to quickly suggest the appropriate type of system to hold the
architectural mesh in place. To get more news about

After reviewing the submitted AMICO APEX03 samples with a standard
painted finish, Red Robin reached out to AMICO with a new paint scheme
design for the panels. The challenge; paint the American Flag onto
multiple APEX03 panels. The challenge was quickly accepted and AMICO
went to work on figuring out how to add artwork to a very
three-dimensional expanded aluminum mesh surface.
AMICO met with a specialty paint applicator at an AIA Convention and
after positive conversations surrounding concerns about the ability to
paint our APEX03 expanded architectural mesh, the paint applicator took
on the challenge. The first samples were produced and sent to Red Robin
for review. The response was very positive and the new art work was
written into the specifications for the Red Robin Foxboro, MA facility.
This facility is directly across from the Patriot’s Place Stadium. The
architectural mesh looks like a real flag from afar and takes on a very
interesting screen wall effect up close.
The success of this project will surely open up new opportunities to
owners, architects and designers to incorporate high definition imagery
to a material which already offers a high degree of texture, shading
and aesthetics for interior and exterior architectural features.
