Are Helmets Necessary For Ebike Riders?
It is no secret that helmets save lives. In fact, they are estimated to reduce the risk of head injury by 50%. While this number is significant, some people still choose to ride without a helmet. Whether riding an electric bike or a regular bike, it is always best to wear an ebike helmet f a fall or collision. So next time you go for a ride, make sure you put safety first and strap on a helmet. Your head will thank you for it!To get more news about ebike mirrors, you can visit magicyclebike.com official website.
The Benefits of Helmets
There are many benefits to wearing an ebike helmet while riding. Perhaps the most obvious benefit is that it can help protect your head in the event of a fall. A properly fitting helmet will also help keep your head cool on hot days and can even reduce wind noise while riding.
Another great benefit of helmets is that they can increase your visibility to other road users. This is especially important for ebikers, who are often less visible than other cyclists due to their smaller size. Wearing a brightly coloured helmet or one with reflective details can help make you more visible to drivers and potentially save your life.
Finally, wearing a helmet can be a great way to show others that you take your cycling seriously. By wearing a helmet, you’re sending a message that you’re committed to riding safely and responsibly. This can inspire others to do the same and helps create a culture of safety on the roads.
How to Choose a Helmet
Many different types of helmets are available on the market, so choosing the right one can be tricky. Here are few things to consider when picking a helmet:
1. Ensure that the helmet fits properly. A good fit is essential for a comfortable and safe ride.
2. Choose a helmet that is designed for ebiking. Some helmets are specifically designed for mountain biking or road cycling, which may not provide adequate protection for ebikers.
3. Consider the climate in which you will be riding. If you live in a hot climate, choose a helmet with plenty of ventilation to keep you cool. Conversely, choose a helmet that will keep your head warm if you live in a cold climate.
4. Select a helmet with reflective materials if you will be riding at night or in low-light conditions. This will assist make you more visible to other road users.
Purchasing Your Helmet
If you’re thinking about purchasing a helmet for your ebike riding, there are a few things you’ll need to keep in mind. First, you’ll require ensuring what style of helmet you want. There are three basic types of helmets: full-face, half-face, and open-face. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, so picking the one that’s right for you is essential.
Full-face helmets offer the most protection for your head, but they can be hot and claustrophobic in warm weather. Half-face helmets don’t cover as much of your head, but they tend to be more comfortable in warm weather. Open-face helmets offer the least protection for your head but provide the best ventilation.
Once you’ve chosen the style of helmet you want, you’ll need to select the correct size. Helmet sizes are based on head circumference, so be sure to measure your head before making a purchase. You can find sizing charts online or at most bike shops.
Finally, you’ll need to decide what features you want in your helmet. Some helmets have built-in visors or sunshades, while others have pockets for storing sunglasses or other small items. You may also want to consider helmets with integrated audio systems so you can listen to music or take phone calls while riding.
FAVOURITE BIKE LOCKS AND HOW TO USE THEM
That’s why we’ve put together our guide on bike locks, including some options for you to consider, so you can give yourself some added peace of mind when it’s not in your line of sight. Picks are based on in-depth research, analysis of user reviews and industry knowledge. To get more news about ebike lock, you can visit magicyclebike.com official website.
Which type of bike lock is best?
There are several different types of lock, but the main ones use either a metal cable of varying thicknesses, a metal chain, or a solid metal bar.
Granted, none of these are going to be light to carry, but it’s a small inconvenience in order to prevent the greater inconvenience of going bike-less if yours gets stolen.
In general, locks with a metal bar, also called D-locks (or U locks), are most reliable and strongest against unwanted attack.
Cable locks can be useful and light enough to stuff away in a pocket, and are better than nothing, but they are easier to cut through with pliers and are thus not the safest option.
What is a silver grade lock?
Sold Secure rated locks refer to the level of insurance available to the user if the bike is stolen despite using a graded lock. A silver grade lock, which is what many decent D-locks will be, provides an insured value of less than £999.99.
Lock your bike with a gold grade lock and the insured value will cover upwards of £1,000. Recently, the diamond grade has also been introduced. More work still needs to be done to differentiate between the top two grades, but both are a pretty safe bet.
If you have an e-bike or high-profile number worth several thousands, then go for the highest rated lock you can find – it’s simply not worth the risk.
Featuring a classic U-lock style, the curved rod itself has been made from 12.7mm thick steel and locks into the base using a pair of hardened double-deadbolts, which the brand says provides added security.
Kryptonite says because of these the lock has significant holding power and can withstand any tugging.
Boasting a rating of six out of 10 on their very own security scale, it also has an anti-rotation feature in the lock which aims to keep things firmly in place.
Boasting a Sold Secure gold security rating, this safety combo features a Kryptonite Evolution Mini 7 bike lock and a Kryptoflex cable, which aims to ensure your bike remains where you left it.
The brand has its very own patented deadbolt, which is reinforced to provide extra resistance to any would-be-thieves yanking at the lock, and has a cam locking mechanism for a secondary level of protection. If you’re looking for a robust lock that will keep your bike exactly where you left it, this D lock claims to be a strong and reliable option.
Made from hardened steel, it has a double deadbolt, which is designed to keep it firmly in place and resist any tugging and pulling.
It comes with two keys so you have a handy back-up should you lose one, and there’s even a cover included that promises to protect against water and dust.

Use sticky traps to monitor corn rootworm beetles this summer
Western and northern corn rootworms are serious pests of corn throughout the Corn Belt (Photo 1). We recommend that farmers scout every cornfield every year, regardless of the management tactic(s) used, to evaluate management decisions and prepare for next year. It is a good idea to scout for larvae early in the season, assess root injury when larval feeding wraps up, and monitor adults later in the season. Since beetle emergence is underway throughout most of the state, now is a good time to begin planning for monitoring adults with sticky traps. To get more news about Yellow Sticky Tape, you can visit senpinghz.com official website.
Usually, adult emergence coincides with silking (R1), because the adults like to feed on pollen so females can fertilize eggs. However, delayed planting throughout much of Iowa means that many fields are behind schedule and silking is occurring now. If adults emerge into fields without silks, they will feed on leaves or nearby flowering plants (i.e., weeds, soybeans) until the silks come out. Keep in mind:
To monitor adults, follow the guidelines outlined below. Use Pherocon AM yellow sticky traps (unbaited). Set up sticky traps (Photo 2) at corn silking and continue through the dent stage (i.e., mid-July through August). For areas in eastern counties with suspected rotation-resistant western corn rootworm, set up sticky traps at soybean flowering and continue through full seed set (i.e., mid-July through August).
In addition to this full protocol, a modified version is available that is used in the Regional Corn Rootworm Adult Monitoring Network. If using the modified protocol, scouting should begin approximately two weeks after adults begin emerging in the area to capture peak emergence. Find more information on trapping protocols, trap brand options, and where to purchase sticky traps on the Corn Rootworm IPM website. You can see live maps of corn rootworm trap captures throughout the season from cooperators in the regional network on the mapping website.
Why scout?
What does it mean? The action threshold in corn is two corn rootworms/trap/day, regardless of species. Consider crop rotation if action thresholds are met. If planting corn again the following growing season, use a pyramided Bt trait with Cry34/35Ab1, or a soil-applied insecticide on non-rootworm Bt corn. Action thresholds in soybean are 1.5 western corn rootworms/trap/day. If action thresholds are met in soybean, consider using a pyramided Bt trait or a soil-applied insecticide on non-rootworm Bt corn the following season or using an extended rotation (something other than corn).
Farmers have several management tactics available for suppressing corn rootworm larvae, including soil-applied insecticides, Bt corn hybrids (including those with RNAi), and crop rotation. Although both species are persistent pests, western corn rootworm is particularly adaptable. The Gassmann Lab at Iowa State University (ISU) has confirmed western corn rootworm resistance to all four Bt rootworm traits in Iowa. Although not present in Iowa yet, North Dakota has confirmed northern corn rootworm resistance to Cry3Bb1 and Cry34/35Ab1, and Nebraska has confirmed western corn rootworm resistance to insecticides. Scouting for corn rootworm allows farmers to make management decisions for next year and will prolong the efficacy of the few management tactics we have for this persistent pest.

The Best First Aid Kits For Campers
A good number of the 40-plus respondents are medical professionals, while others have taken extensive first aid training. Their advice is particularly insightful as they remind us that there’s no substitute for medical training in an emergency situation. To get more news about аптечка FAK, you can visit rusuntacmed.com.ru official website.
This may not be the most compelling question we’ve ever asked, but it’s certainly one of the most important. Angela and I will be purchasing a proper first aid kit for our truck camper, most likely a reader recommended Adventure Medical Kits.
We have a homemade first aid kit. It is contained in a diaper wipe box to keep everything clean. Contents are band-aids, sterile gauze pads (2″ x 2″), a gauze roll, disinfectant cream, small bottle of Hibiclens, Benadryl, waterproof bandage tape, and mole skin. We have used this kit for treating minor cuts.” – David Gladstone, 2016 Ford F350, 2006 Arctic Fox
“As a widow of a Special Forces Combat Medic, I have an extensive first aid kit that I rarely use. It usually has band-aids, vet tape, and antibiotic ointment.
On the other hand, I have a significant first aid kit for my dogs, which gets used regularly. I have used plenty of vet tape, tweezers, gauze pads, gauze rolls, antibiotic ointment, styptic powder, Benadryl, baby aspirin, de-wormer, and spare antibiotics and steroids (prescribed by my vet specifically because of the amount we travel). I’ve used the dog kit much more often than my human kit!” – Karen House, 2005 Ram 2500, 2005 Lance 811
“We do carry a small commercially available first aid kit, approximately the size of a thick library book. It contains some basic bandages and band-aids, tape, gauze pads, tube of antibiotic ointment, scissors, etc. Also, various common over the counter medicines are in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom.
“Absolutely! I wouldn’t leave home with out it. I use a Pelican 1500 EMS case. It is super tough and waterproof, so moisture is not an issue with storing first aid supplies. I keep it stocked with everything from band-aids and cold medicine to a CPR mask and tourniquet.
If you spend enough time on the road you will see accidents with people hurt (hopefully not you). If you travel to areas that are not close to medical care or even a CVS/Walgreens, you will be thankful you have it. I’ve have had to use my kit many times for everything from minor cuts to watching a guy flip his motorcycle 100 yards in front of me.”
I have never had to use the upper end of these kits. Of course I haven’t used my life insurance either, but I have it. However, if a life threatening occurrence did occur, a high compression bandage could be the difference between life and death.
I think those basic first aid kits are a joke and only good for a simple scratch and give a false illusion. It’s too simple and inexpensive to be prepared in your truck, camper, or on a hike to not prepare for a serious emergency.”

SOFT VS. HARD BODY ARMOR: DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCES?
ith chaos around, you begin to wonder if owning a gun and having a good ammo stash is enough? So, is it? Thinking about this leads you to the topic of general preparedness. Things like, does my family have enough food, water, medical supplies, money that’s not in the bank, and the ever-necessary toilet paper? To get more news about Hard Armor panels, you can visit bulletproofboxs.com official website.
Another thought is, do we have a good “go bag” of essentials in case a natural disaster ever wipes my house and community off the face of the earth. This thought is driven by what happened to a town near me — Joplin, Missouri — with the May 22nd tornado in 2011 that made national news.
The point is, there are a lot of scary things that can happen. But what about body armor? Do you need it? That’s for you to decide regarding your personal situation. But, if you do decide you need it, you must ask yourself what kind you need. So, let’s talk about the two main kinds of armor that divide the market.
The most common type of armor is soft body armor. If you have never heard of this, it’s exactly what it sounds like — it’s a body armor that is soft to the touch, but still can stop bullets. Every piece of gear has pros and cons. So, let’s address that with soft armor.
Soft armor is typically going to be lighter than hard armor and more comfortable against the body because of its flexibility. Soft body armor is made in a variety of different levels and protections. It is made of a variety of densely woven materials made to stop bullets.
Here is where it gets tricky. These can oftentimes stop bullets, but not all of them can stop knives. To add stab and slash protection will cost you extra money. Soft body armor alone cannot stop high-velocity rounds like rifle bullets — unless you have a soft body armor carrier with room for hard plates. I told you it gets tricky. There are way too many protection levels and options for me to dive into here, and the market is quickly changing as new advances are made. But, a good source I have found is Safe Life Defense, one of the biggest names in soft armor right now, so you can head over there and take a gander at their protection options.
Soft body armor is generally concealable under your clothing. As mentioned, this armor can protect you from handgun rounds, which in the case of a conventional mugging is what you and I would likely encounter. But what if you are facing an attacker with a rifle? This is where hard armor comes into play.
Hard plate armor can stop all the way up to a 30.06 round, which is really cooking at about 2,800 feet per second with 2,872 ft-lbs. of energy. Yeah, it will still hurt, but it stops the bullet from passing through, which is an incredible feat. The trade-off is plates can be really heavy. Only Level 4 plates can stop 30.06, and on average I’d estimate they weigh 5 to 7 lbs. apiece.
There are plates that don’t cover that much velocity but will stop up to .308 armor-piercing rounds, and those can be as light as 3.8 lbs. Or, you can lose the armor-piercing protection and get plates that still stop .308 and only weigh 2.7 lbs.! Here is the kicker — those plates I’m talking about are made by Shot Stop, and they are made from UHMWPE (Polyethylene). [Ed. note: Armor piercing ammunition is an often misunderstood concept that is used as a political football. Read more in Richard Johnson’s article on Cop Killer Bullets.]
The increasing use of multi screw pumps in modern industry
The adoption of multi screw pumps has increased exponentially over the past half-decade, with the consumption volume rising from 146,000 units in 2015 to 202,000 units in 2022. To get more news about Screw Pump, you can visit hw-screwpump.com official website.
This rapid rise has been fueled by several factors, including major growth in the industries of end users, such as power generation, food and beverage, and chemical and petrochemicals. Other reasons include the modernization of the water and wastewater industries, the use of these pumps in hydraulic fracturing, and the sustained rise of urbanization and industrialization in the developing world.
In addition to increasing demand, there is also a growing awareness and understanding of the advantages of multi screw pump technology. Indeed, these technologies have benefited from significant improvements, including new designs and the ability to machine within tighter tolerances. Specialized products have also become available with varying levels of performance for a range of specific applications.
The advantages of multi screw pumps
Multi screw pumps provide a range of advantages across their various applications. First, these pumps are distinguished by their energy and operating efficiency, leading to significant reductions in energy cost and cost of maintenance. NETZSCH NOTOS multi screw pumps, for example, lead to 23.3% more efficiency when compared to other pumps on the market.
These pumps can also handle a range of media, including incompressible and highly-viscous products. This includes product that is abrasive, aggressive, corrosive, shear-sensitive, solids laden, low or high viscosity, and lubricating or non-lubricating.
High pressure and leak free, the performance of multi screw pumps is consistently high level. They handle the conveyed product gently and smoothly, also reducing the noise of the process. Because they are entirely made of metal, multi screw pumps can also tolerate temperatures, above 572° Fahrenheit or 300° Celsius.
Multi screw pumps are also hygienic by design, making them ideal for applications in near-sterile environments, such as in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries. These pumps are easy to clean because they are made of stainless steel and are rigorously polished, such that a pumped product cannot stick to the surfaces. This design allows for effective cleaning-in-place (CIP) and sterilization-in-place (SIP) processes.
How multi screw pumps work
The working principle of multi screw pumps is inherent in how their interlocking screws move the product. These pumps function via a drive spindle that transmits torque to multiple rotating, intermeshing spindles. As these screws rotate, the chambers move continuously from the suction side to the pressure side, effectively conveying the product. This operating principle is what drives the smooth and gentle pumping and high performance of screw pumps.
Twin-Screw Pumps
Bornemann Twin-Screw Pumps are self-priming, double ended positive displacement pumps with external timing gears and bearings. Manufactured in over 80 sizes, their design provides complete axial balancing of the rotating elements and eliminates all metal-to-metal contact within the pump.To get more news about MONO pump Accessories, you can visit hw-screwpump.com official website.
They can handle virtually any non-homogeneous fluid, regardless of viscosity, lubricity or abrasiveness e. g. seawater, bitumen, molasses, lime, acid, caustic solution or hydrocarbon.
Principle
While pumping there is no metal-to-metal contact within the pump housing. This allows good pumping performance even with non-lubricating and corrosive and contaminated fluids.
As the pump rotates, the intermeshing of the two screws along with the pump housing form chambers. These chambers fill with the pumped fluid and move it from the suction side of the pump to the higher pressure discharge side of the pump.
The pump is designed to allow for reverse flow by simply changing the shaft direction. The suction becomes the dis-charge and vice versa, all without any modifications to the pump
When shouldn’t you use a Twin Screw Pump?
So why not use a twin screw? About 10 years ago when twin screw pumps burst onto the sanitary pump scene, there were a few folks who only sold twin screws and did a really good job of making every application a twin screw application. Pumping Greek Yogurt? Twin screw. Mayonnaise? Twin Screw. Beer? Twin Screw. A product you’ve been handling for 20 years with an ECP pump without issue? Twin screw. You get the idea- every application between a twin screw pump application.
The reality is, twin screw pump technology, while robust and versatile, isn’t for every application. They cannot be piped inline and twin screw pumps have a large footprint. When used in high turndown applications, twin screw pumps require exceptionally large motors.
Twin screw pumps are also much more complex to service and there is less familiarity with twin screw technology among maintenance personnel than with other, more established technologies. Screws must be properly matched and timed, often requiring special training of maintenance teams. Accordingly, we don’t recommend twin screw for clean out of place applications.
Cost is also a key consideration, with twin screws costing up to 50% more than comparably sized ECP type pumps. This carries through to parts, which has a great impact on total cost of ownership. As we mentioned above, one of the reasons we love twin screw technology is it allows us to do two duties- process and CIP- with one pump. Not only does it make piping easier, it also helps make the economics work.
