An admittedly intoxicated American Airlines baggage handler fell asleep on the job and ended up flying from Kansas City to Chicago in the belly of a Boeing 737.

The employee, who works for American subsidiary Piedmont Airlines at Kansas City International Airport, was working on the ramp for American Flight 363 on Saturday Oct. 27, when he apparently took a nap inside the cargo hold before the flight.

No one noticed him missing, and the plane took off at 5:52 a.m. local time with the worker in the forward cargo hold, airline and law enforcement officials confirmed.

The baggage handler, who has not been identified, wasn’t discovered until the plane landed at O’Hare International Airport and parked at the gate just before 7:30 a.m. local time.

The employeewas interviewed by the Chicago Police Department, FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office, standard policy in matters involving aviation security.

He told law enforcement officials he was intoxicated and fell asleep, according to Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

american Airlines is cutting back on flights from Chicago to China and Japan this fall, saying it couldn’t keep flying money-losing routes at a time when fuel costs are high.

American’s daily nonstop flights from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Shanghai will end in late October, the airline said Tuesday. Daily flights between Chicago and Tokyo will be cut back to three days per week in December.spring airlines baggage allowance

Fort Worth, Texas-based American previously had announced plans to end nonstop flights between Chicago and Beijing in late October, saying it plans to seek permission to fly to Beijing’s new international airport, expected to open next year.
American remains enthusiastic about both Chicago and Asia, but “the two China routes, and to a lesser degree Tokyo, have been colossal loss leaders for us,” Vasu Raja, vice president of network and schedule planning, said in an interview on the airline’s podcast.

Chicago is a “very profitable hub,” Raja said. The airline has been carrying more passengers through the city and does not plan to reduce overall capacity there, he said.

But there isn’t enough demand to sustain the China routes, American said. Neither the Chicago-to-Shanghai nor the Chicago-to-Beijing route has been profitable since launching in 2006 and 2010, respectively, airline spokeswoman Leslie Scott said.

Scott said American also was at a disadvantage in Chicago because it had to continue operating daily nonstop flights to Shanghai and Beijing or risk losing the right to offer those flights. U.S. carriers must seek government approval to operate flights to certain countries, including China. American, which got approval for its flights between Chicago and China after some of its rivals, had less flexibility to scale back flights when demand slowed, she said.

American has asked the U.S. Department of Transportation for a waiver that would allow the airline to resume flying between Chicago and Shanghai and Beijing when economic conditions improve.

In the meantime, the airline wants to focus on its Asia flights from hubs in Dallas, where travelers can connect to destinations in Latin America, and Los Angeles, which attracts passengers throughout the West Coast, Scott said.

American and partner carrier Japan Airlines collectively will still have nonstop flights between Chicago and Tokyo 10 times per week, and during the peak season between June and August next summer, Japan Airlines will add flights so the carriers will together offer twice-daily flights, American said.

Chemifloc the largest producer of water treatment chemicals in Ireland, DTPMP has become the first chemical manufacturer on the island of Ireland to achieve the Irish Standard Mark in relation to three chemicals it supplies to local authorities for purifying drinking water. Mr. Maurice Buckley, CEO of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) presented the Company with their certificates at Chemifloc’s headquarters in Shannon today.

Chemifloc has achieved the Irish Standard Mark in relation to the processes it uses in the production of aluminium sulfate, iron sulfate and aluminium iron sulfate. These comply with the equivalent EN standards in each case and guarantee that Chemifloc produces these chemicals to the highest, internationally-recognised standards.

“At a time when the quality of drinking water is foremost in many people’s minds, following recent flooding incidents, we can provide drinking water producers – and ultimately the wider public – with complete confidence in the quality of the water treatment chemicals we produce. As the largest supplier in the land, we can also guarantee a continuity of supply for many weeks, made possible by our independent production facility in Shannon and immediate availability of up to 25,000 tonnes of liquid and solid raw materials from our dedicated storage facility at the nearby port of Foynes,” said Ed Storey, Managing Director, Chemifloc.

Speaking at the presentation, Maurice Buckley, CEO, NSAI said: “It is great, particularly in these difficult times, to see an Irish-owned company reach for and achieve such high standards. The fact that Chemifloc is the first company in Ireland to be awarded with the Irish Standard Mark for these chemicals is indicative of the company’s pioneering spirit since its establishment almost 30 years ago. Its commitment to continuing this spirit into the future is evidenced by its ongoing investment in the business, representing some €5m in recent years.”

The power industry has the largest application in this market. The shift in the power industry to more cost-effective methods,HEDP phosphonate especially in developed countries, is expected to drive the demand for these chemicals. In Asia-Pacific and South East Asia, the maximum growth of thermal power plants is expected.

In 2017, the scale inhibitors segment accounted for the largest share of about 19% of the total market. It is also expected to be the fastest growing segment. Scale inhibitors are widely used in various industries, such as oil & gas, power generation, textile, and food processing. Globally, around 1,500 coal plants are under construction or are under various stages of planning.

Asia-Pacific has the largest market share of approximately 33% of the global market. This is due to the consistent economic growth in the emerging economies, such as India, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, and Malaysia. The global demand for water treatment chemicals is forecast to rise nearly 6% per annum, reaching almost $31 billion (Dequest 2000) in 2017.

This is according to the new World Water Treatment Chemicals Market report. Rising water quality standards in manufacturing and industrial applications, expanded access to safe drinking water and a shift toward higher value chemicals will drive demand.

Undeveloped countries to drive demand

The report predicts that advances will be fastest in developing countries, where the use of water treatment chemicals has historically been low compared to use rates in more affluent regions. This is because of economic growth and tightening environmental regulations.

New wastewater quality requirements in developing areas will promote the use of chemicals to treat wastewater. Increased investments in municipal water infrastructure in efforts to modernise water treatment facilitiesis also expected to boost demand.

A more moderate demand for developed regions

In developed regions the growth in demand for water treatment chemicals is expected to be more moderate while the shift in product mix will be more complex.

Higher industrial water quality standards and environmental regulations worldwide will support demand for water treatment equipment which, in some cases, can replace certain chemicals. However, because this equipment cannot fully replace the use of water treatment chemicals, developed areas are turning to lower-dose, higher cost specialty chemicals.

A Delta flight was forced to abandon a high-speed takeoff today after another plane appeared at the end of the runway, according to the Chinese aviation authority.

Detroit-bound flight DL582 was about to take off from Shanghai Pudong Airport at 11:40am when a Japan Airlines plane 'invaded the runway', according to a statement released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). 機票價格查詢

All 217 passengers and 15 crew members have returned to the terminal safely and no injuries have been reported, according to a Delta spokesperson.Passengers told Xinmin Evening News that the nose of the Airbus A350 had already lifted off the ground when the pilot slammed the brakes.

Videos and photos shared by witnesses show emergency services putting out a fire after the aircraft's tyres burst.

Inspections were also completed by the maintenance team, a Delta spokesperson told MailOnline.

All passengers have been arranged to board an extra flight, DL9924, which is scheduled to depart Shanghai tomorrow at 8am.The CAAC East China Regional Administration is investigating the incident.

This is not the first time a near-miss incident has occurred in Shanghai.

On October 11, 2016, flight MU-5643 was about to take off from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport when it encountered another plane in its path along the runway.

The pilot, named He Chao, chose to accelerate and fly over the other aircraft avoiding a head-on crash by just 19 metres (62 feet).

American Airlines is dropping money-losing flights between Chicago and Shanghai, and Hawaiian Airlines will suspend its only route to China because of low demand.

The airlines announced those and other route changes this week.預定機票

The decisions reflect growing competition from Chinese carriers and rising fuel prices that have made once-marginal routes unprofitable.

American, the world’s largest carrier, said it will end Chicago-Shanghai service in October.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline recently decided to cut flights between Chicago and Beijing, also in October.

In a podcast on the airline’s website, vice president of network planning Vasu Raja said the routes “have been colossal loss makers.”

American flies to Shanghai and Beijing from both Los Angeles and Dallas-Fort Worth.

It disclosed the latest pullback from China and reduced flights between Chicago and Tokyo as it announced additional flights to Europe, most of them limited to the summer peak-travel season.

Hawaiian Airlines said in a statement it will suspend its three flights a week between Honolulu and Beijing in October. The carrier started the route in 2014 and had already downgraded it from daily service. Hawaiian said it will shift planes to other routes that fit its expansion plans.

Both airlines said they were keeping alive the possibility of resuming the flights in the future. Hawaiian CEO Peter Ingram said his company still believes “in China’s future as a robust market for the Hawaiian vacation experience.”

Chinese airlines have added flights and destinations in recent years, sometimes undercutting U.S. rivals on prices.

Separately, the Chinese government pressured U.S. and other foreign airlines this year to describe the island of Taiwan as part of China on airline websites, a move that the U.S. carriers initially resisted.

Meanwhile spot prices for jet fuel have risen nearly 40 percent in the last year, tracking the spike in oil prices. Fuel competes with labor as the biggest cost at most airlines.

Over 400 flights will be canceled at Pudong and Hongqiao international airports for Sunday as typhoon Ampil is likely to make landfall in Shanghai on Sunday morning.

Some 300 flights are expected to be canceled at Pudong International Airport on Sunday, while another 160 will be canceled at the Hongqiao airport, the Shanghai Airport Authority said.Tokyo(Narita) flights

Passengers are advised to keep an eye on flight information on Sunday to avoid being stranded at the airports, the authority said.

Air China has announced to cancel 41 domestic and international flights at the Pudong and Hongqiao airports for Sunday. They include outbound flights from Pudong to Osaka, Tokyo, Frankfurt and Melbourne, according to the nation's flagship carrier.

Shanghai-based China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines and China United Airlines have cancelled 165 domestic flights which were scheduled to take off or land at the city's two airports for Saturday night and Sunday.

The local airlines have also cancelled 40 flights at other airports in east China such as Ningbo in neighboring Zhejiang Province, Yantai in Shandong and the Zhoushan archipelago where the typhoon is likely to pass through before hitting Shanghai. The airlines said they would continue to adjust these flights according to the movement of the typhoon. The local Spring and Juneyao airlines also announced to cancel about 20 domestic flights at the Pudong and Hongqiao airports for Sunday.

Over 30 flights which are scheduled to land at Hongqiao airport and those berthed on the apron overnight on Saturday have been canceled, and 29 such flights have been canceled at Pudong airport, according to the Shanghai Airport Authority.

Strong winds will cause giant lift forces when blowing around the wings of aircraft berthed on aprons. Under such forces, aircraft may move and bump into each other, the airport authority said.
