Speed Kills Again - Finally, speed is again a major weapon. This return to realistic gameplay has helped to allow guards to have an advantage against bigger defenders. In recent versions of 2K, bigs have been able to guard smalls on the perimeter far too easily.
However, Ease Up on Turbo - While speed is more of a factor again, don't get too enamored with the turbo button. In my experience, it was easier to gas your player out by spamming turbo than in the past. A gassed-out player doesn't have access to all of their animations, and they move around the court more labored.
Contrary to Popular Opinion, Dribblers Aren't Nerfed - I heard a lot of early chatter about advanced dribbling being nerfed, but that's not the case. I'm not exactly Kyrie Irving on the sticks. I'm better with bigs, but I haven't had an issue performing dribble moves or chaining them once I head into 2KU. The mechanic feels slightly different, but the moves most 2K fans love to perform are still very feasible.
Bigs Feel Heavier and Stronger - When dribbling and sprinting with a frontcourt player, your controls should feel different and a little less free than they do with guards. Thankfully, that difference is present, and the distinction is more noticeable in 2K20 than I can remember in previous versions.
The WNBA Plays Appropriately Different - I'm thrilled to see the WNBA integrated into the game. Moreover, I love how much differently the game plays than the NBA experience. The players move differently, and in some ways, the action flows even smoother than it does with NBA players. It's not necessarily better, it's just different in a good way.
The Shot Meter Grew, But Then it Shrunk Again - When the demo was released, and during the early preview, the size of the shot meter was increased. However, at some points, members of the 2K community complained. Per Wang, the size of the shot meter was reduced back to the size it was for 2K19.
Tons of New Badges - There are more than 50 new badges in the game, and it's a welcomed addition to the game. The new badges help in almost every mode in helping to individualize each player.
Off-Ball Movement Is Far More Important - This is arguably the biggest change in gameplay. It's probably equal to the speed threshold. Playing off the ball will be a real skill, especially in Pro-Am and other team-up modes. Badges like Slippery Offball and Off-Ball Pest will be very important.

With its only major competition backed up and away from 2K's release window, it seemed like 2K20 was poised to dominate the world of virtual basketball. Through introducing the WNBA into 2K and some experimental new changes, 2K20 had hopes to dominate the tail end of this console cycle.
However, players are discovering numerous bugs, glitches, and imbalances within 2K20. Collected under a hashtag of "FixNBA2K20," players are voicing issues in a few main areas, namely the continued presence of microtransactions and what some are calling "false advertising."

The microtransactions and "gambling" issues weren't hard to see coming. In fact, just prior to the launch of 2K20, a MyTeam trailer went out that painted the mode with literal casino imagery, including slots and pachinko. And while the goal seemed to be to speed up the VC grind, it doesn't seem like these systems were ever going to go away completely.

The bugs and imbalances are a much larger point, though. Reports of "lagging out" of offline games and features that changed between early talk and the final build of 2K20 have players riled up on social media.Players still seem set on sticking with the game, as it's the iteration of 2K they're stuck with either way. But even if the microtransactions are a long shot, hopefully some of these technical issues can get fixed up in the coming days and weeks. Gearing up to launch EA SPORTS FIFA 20 - the latest incarnation - into highly-pixelated life, Jack is winding down for the day having spent the last four months travelling across England and Europe setting up and then dismantling his daunting cage of cameras, lasers, lights and wires.

The attention to detail is staggering.

"One thing that players of the game want is escapism, isn’t it?” Jack says. “It’s hard to be a professional footballer yourself. Gaming the closest you can get so they want it to look like the real deal and that’s why our job is so important. We have to make sure we have the best technology, the best graphics and update them so we stay on top of the game.

"Even though we’re at the top level for what we’re doing, we still work for those incremental gains that you can improve even just the slightest bit. You’ve always got to get better and better."But to achieve this requires quite remarkable sacrifice from Jack and his team alongside a host of trials and challenges on top of the usual obstacles that working in football creates.

Based in Yorkshire, Jack spends eight months a year capturing players' images and tends to enjoy just two days a week in his own house as he travels across the continent. For those already jaded by the FIFA series, here’s a quick update on what happened last year: FIFA 19 launched and was widely considered a breath of fresh air. It was difficult, the pace felt right, and defending couldn’t just be delegated to the AI. Then EA released a gameplay patch that made us wince at the very thought of the 8/10 score we gave it. Looking back though, the regret felt over the review is misplaced. At launch FIFA 19 was impressive and it really did feel like progress had been made. By the turn of the year though, it had regressed badly. So firing up FIFA 20 for the first time was done with trepidation and a promise not to go overboard on the praise. After all, what if everything changed next month? But that isn’t much of an approach either, so we’ve taken fifa 20 ultimate team coins as it comes.
That said, EA has certainly shown more transparency with this FIFA, with a consistent roll-out of Pitch Notes detailing all of the changes the developers want you to know about. It was refreshing. The big headline new feature in this year’s FIFA is Volta football, an updated take on FIFA Street – a fantastic game in its own right – and our immediate impressions are positive. Some of the voice acting leaves a bit to be desired (has anyone ever used the word ‘panna’ in a sentence?) and there are some cringe moments (Pete, Peter…) but overall the story is engaging enough and gives you a quick intro into the life of a street footballer. The customisation on offer is also a triumph and something akin to what many hoped EA would bring to Pro Clubs one day. It’s landed in the world of Volta though, and that actually makes much more sense given there really are no rules on what you wear. Naturally, microtransactions come into the Volta store but there are also tons of items you can unlock as you progress through your career, and they’re neatly linked to on-pitch accomplishments. On top of that Volta is just a great way to learn the intricacies of FIFA.
Some love skill moves, some barely go near them, but in a 3 vs, 3 the prospect of a rainbow flick feels attractive. We found ourselves trying skills we’ve barely gone near in five years, flicking the ball up on a whim and using the new strafe dribble liberally. It’s fun and that’s a theme that runs through FIFA 20. And that’s not something we’ve said about the series in a long time. Moving back to the grass, there have been a number of gameplay tweaks that stopped us in our tracks. Firstly, and most importantly, are the changes to defending. Drum roll time… it’s actually hard to defend now. If you’re used to just pressuring the ball carrier with the AI you’re going to need to relearn the game, it’s that much of a change. The ‘skill gap’ which we spoke about so much last year has returned again. How long it stays for we don’t know, and we definitely can’t speculate, but as it stands you have to be patient, clever, and concentrated if you want to get the ball back. Some of the standing block tackles we’ve performed, where you actually emerge with the ball, have left us in shock. It’s totally different to FIFA 19’s collision engine disaster.

Though the speed of the overall game has been reduced, making each contest a more measured encounter, the difference in pace between the quickest forwards and slowest defenders is more discernible than ever. If you overcommit you better hope you’re not up against someone who knows what they’re doing. All the best to you if your opponent has a Kylian Mbappe lurking on the shoulder of the last man. Despite the above, there are still elements to the gameplay that will require you to learn on the fly. Shooting is tricky. If you’re using a player with a poor weak foot ability, shooting on that foot is as foolish as it sounds and that’s great.
