When you hear the words “thermal transfer” you may assume that it is another form of direct thermal printing. This is not the case. A thermal transfer works differently because the thermal print head will press into the paper or plastic label. In between, there is transfer ribbon. This “ink” will transfer onto the label.
It’s important to know about your options when you choose thermal ribbons to go into your thermal transfer label printer. There are wax ribbons, wax/resin ribbons and resin ribbons. Each have something unique to offer and will depend upon the printing applications. For example, if you are printing barcodes, you have to focus on accurate printing for readability purposes.
Wax ribbons can be used for labels that will be around for years, but it must be kept dry. Wax/resin ribbons can produce a finer image, often used for bar-coding. It can be exposed to a small amount of water. Finally, there are the resin ribbons, which can print onto plastic labels – including polyester and vinyl. The ink dissolves into the surface, making it durable.

The gunman, 25-year-old Redouane Lakdim, was on an extremist watch list but it was decided he was not a threat. He was shot dead by police after killing and injuring a number of people in separate incidents, including taking hostages at a supermarket in the town of Trèbes.
Tributes have been paid to the victims, including a French gendarme who was killed after swapping places with one of the hostages.
According to French-language radio station RMC, the attacker's girlfriend is a convert to Islam who has been known to security services for at least a year. Prosecutor Francois Molins said Lakdim had been on an extremist watch-list due to "his radicalisation and his links with the Salafist movement", a hard-line offshoot of Sunni Islam. However, there had been no indication he would carry out an attack.The arrest was a "significant success" against a top cyber-crime group, Steven Wilson, head of Europol's Cyber-Crime Centre (EC3), which co-ordinated the long-running, cross-border investigation into the group. said in a statement.
"The arrest of the key figure in this crime group illustrates that cyber-criminals can no longer hide behind perceived international anonymity," he said.
The cyber-thieves got their malware on to bank networks by sending key staff booby-trapped phishing emails, said Europol. The gang used three separate generations of malware, each one more sophisticated than the last, to penetrate and then lurk on financial networks.

This month, The Second City is bringing their best sketches and songs to the City of Roses. Featuring touring cast members Jenelle Cheyne, Laurel Krabacher, Scotty Nelson, Ian Owens, Jo Scott, and Lilliana Winkworth. Metro spoke with Ian Owens about improv comedy, the Myers-Briggs test, and taking the leap of performing comedy in front of an audience. Answers have been edited for brevity and clarity.I moved to LA to be a stand-up, and I pursued that for a few years. Then I auditioned for an improv job out in Amsterdam, and got to live in my favorite country of all time - Holland - for a little while. I guess I've always been into [improv].
I've always been funny, always used comedy as my weapon. I wasn't tall or handsome or big or anything else - but I was funny. I did a theatrical for Second City, called "Unelectable You", a political show that took place right before the 2016 presidential election. We toured the country with that show. About halfway through that tour, I realized Donald Trump was going to win based on how certain jokes were received. Comedy is a really great way to take the temperature of the country. I was a little bit ahead of FiveThirtyEight, Nate Silver and that group, in that regard. Then I came back to LA, studied under Second City and then became part of their national touring group which is my dream job.
It's nice to have a job as a comedian here in Chicago, but it's also nice to be out of Chicago for as much of the winter as you can.The history, for sure. Everywhere else I've been has some history, but Second City goes all the way back to the roots. It's the beginning of satirical comedy here in the States, unless you want to go all the way back to Mark Twain.Just looking at the alumni, it's incredible. Being in a theater backstage and seeing a quote from Steve Carrell, and next to that a quote from Chance the Rapper, and next to that is a quote from a senator or someone else - it's wild to think about how many people have done this job and gone on to be successful.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank Zlatan for his contribution to the team since his arrival and wishes him well for the future.”Ibrahimovic leaves United having made just seven appearances this season after struggling to recover from the effects of a serious knee ligament injury suffered last April. Ibrahimovic was awarded a new year-long contract by United last summer but, since returning to full training in November, his fitness problems have persisted and limited his time on the pitch. Jose Mourinho admitted earlier this month that he expected this to be Ibrahimovic’s final year at the club.
“Only that awful injury at the wrong moment broke a fantastic couple of seasons he could, and should, have had with us,” the United manager said.Ibrahimovic’s last United appearance came in Boxing Day’s 2-2 draw with Burnley, which saw the former Juventus, Internazionale and Barcelona striker substituted at half time.
